Girling and ATE on'84 5KS
While changing the strut bearings in the '84 5KS
I noticed that the drivers side has an ATE caliper
and the passenger side has a Girling caliper. The pads
in the Girling caliper had alot more meat on them than
the ATE side. Car brakes normally, doesn't pull to
either side when braking. I must have put the
different caliper on years ago, don't remember which,
just remember that the caliper was OK, but snapped the
bleeder screw, then the easy out.
Cut the disks and put new pads in, both calipers
were free, not stuck or binding.
Anyone know of a compelling reason to match up the
calipers? Since they seem to work alright I'm inclined
to leave them alone. The calipers are very different
designs.
Thanks for any info.
