Workshop manuals
Hi all,
Went to a car swapmeet yesterday, and bought not one, but two workshop
manuals for my car. One is the Haynes 1491 (Audi B3 80, 90 and Coupe,
non-q) and the other is a German item from Bucheli Verlag, '1147/48/49
Reparatur-anleitung Audi 80/90 quattro ab 1989'. I figured two cheap
manuals (Haynes was $15, Bucheli was $23) would do for the jobs I intend to
do myself, at least for now. I'll have to get to grips with reading the
repair procedures in two languages and translating them to a third- my own,
but I guess that'll work.
Both certainly seem clear enough, the Bucheli more so than the Haynes on
some parts I've compared. The Haynes also seems a little skimpy on some
techniques, but it's at least as good as the Olyslager I had for my old 80,
if not better. With the Olyslager for the 80 and the Olyslager bodywork
handbook for the 80/90 (Dutch) and my new manuals, I guess most things are
covered.
Skimming those books has made me realise what made the 'groaning' noise
when my battery went bad- it's the bi-level hydraulic pump for the central
locking. Ah.
Looking forward to getting to know my car a little better, and asking less
stupid questions...
Tom
PS Also (after the battery problems have been resolved for now) finally
bought some decent jumper cables. My old thin & cheap items were getting
rather hot while in use..

Don't worry about this. It isn't going to amount to anything.
