Re: Quattro: Hello

I find it hard to believe I'm the first a6q owner. I would have rather had an
a4q but there were forces involved that wanted a "larger" car. Hence, the a6q.

My first impression, and with less than 100 miles on the car, is that it's a
slug off the line. It's more meant for high speed touring rather than "throw
you in the back seat" acceration. Sure, I'd like to have more low end torque. I
can already appreciate the sure-footedness of the quattro option. It does feel
very comfortable being thrown into turns. The car wants you to play with it.
Standard tires are Goodyear RS-A tires. Hummm... no speed rating. Does this
mean the the car has it's top speed limited (electronically) to what is safe
for those tires? That would be my guess. I doubt that those tires would be
acceptable in Europe. I have an Avenger with those tires and they suck on that
FWD car, IMHO. They have nothing that resembles wet traction and I'll be lucky
to get 36K from them. The Tiptronic works OK. The five speed automatic was one
nice feature of the car. The shifting, automatically, is absolutely seamless.
Hard to tell what gear is being chosen for you. I'd rather have a manual
transmission, and if I were the only driver, I would. I'm still kinda taking it
easy on the engine with respect to break in. I don't believe in babying the car
but I also don't think that 6K+ rpm shifts are in order quite yet. I'll have to
drive it some more and get the engine broken in before I really give the
Tiptronic a workout.

Mid engine and rear drive. A car worth having.....IMHO.
