Elec. Contact/Connector Cleaner

Greetings,
I seem to have lost the thread pertaining to
comments on a type of solvent/cleaner for corroded electrical contacts and
(hopefully) connectors. I have a situation involving much oxidation and am
looking for something other than sandpaper, Scotchbrite and jewelers files.
This is my first "public" posting, so please bear with.
I have a number of "low buck- low tech" fixes for an array of 5KTQ and
Audi-in-general maladies garnered from several years of multi-TQ ownership
( and would rather save the -limited- cash available for parts and not the
prevailing shop rates). Nothing is committed to the written word as of
yet, but potential subjects include:
DAMN, I...
1. just rebuilt the Hydraulic Pump and it still leaks from the center
(iron/aluminum) interface...
2. just pulled into the toll booth and watched the whole (fill in which)
door window drop into the door..and its about 31 degrees and sleeting and I
have another 5 hours to drive...
3. ran the sunroof back into the roof and had a wonderful drive until it
started to rain, at which point I tried to close it and it died.. (and the
manual hand crank brought it back an inch before it locked up solid...)
4. just tried to start the Q after letting it sit for about 3 hours.. and
cranked...and cranked... and it finally started on 2 cylinders....then 3...
then 4...then-maybe- 5 and ran great for the rest of the day...
5. just called the dealer and got the price for:
a. the low pressure hydraulic return lines with the "special" swaged-on
connectors...
b. TQ Wagon rear shocks...
c. any damn thing for that matter..
The list, though not as endless as it sometime seems has some (potentially)
good stuff. If there's any interest out there.. drop me a line. I wouldn't
claim to be at or near the level of technical expertise as some of your
listers
- you know who you are- (thanks ) , but experience can be a harsh
instructor and some of these ravings may have some application.
Best regards,
Mark
