A really good de-oxidiser for brass/bronze/copper contacts
is regular ammonia-solution (sold as cleaner).  With a minor
amount of agitation (i.e. brushing with an old toothbrush)
it dissolves verdigris clean away (make sure you thoroughly
wash away the ammonia afterward though).
