      One cable, it's a common problem.  There was even
      talk of being able to buy the teflon gear which
      is usually the culprit, I didn't pay too much
      attention as I've never had a problem with
      the speedo.  To pull the cluster you have
      to remove the steering wheel, remove the two
      screws on top, reach in, turn speedo cable
      quarter turn, pull out cluster and disconnect
      all the plugs.

      For $365.00 the seller would have to be pretty
      stupid/desperate to disconnect the speedo.

      It seems you weren't put off by the magnitute of
      the repairs, the next step would be to buy the
      Bentley Repair Manual for the car.  It's the
      required Tome necessary to keep the car on the
      road.  Also check the Quattro Archives (although
      the search engine really sucks) just about everything
      that can/does go wrong has been covered.
