Kind to be cruel?- window regulators

What's a guy to do?

I chose to replace both window regulators in my 83 UrQ when they failed
over the last two years (as opposed to the previously well documented cable
fixes). I did this because they had each progressed from already slow
action to "little engine that could"-like action and I felt that the motors
were shot as well as the cables.

During the door de-constructions I replaced torn "vapour" barriers and
decided to firm up the ?rubber window seals to minimize water pouring into
the interior of the doors. Quite a few of the small plastic clips were
either missing or broken. Since the aluminum trim has to be removed for
this and in my hands this process carries a high risk of damage to said
pieces I wanted to do it right the first time. It seemed that although
there were many holes in the trim to accept clips, there was only one clip
in every second hole. This is how I put it together. I have also taken
inner panel off a couple of times to make sure the cable is well lubricated
(after Phil P's suggestions ). The problem is one window has already slowed
down markedly compared to its neighbour. It appears as if the rubber seal
is asserting too much drag on the window.

Question- Should I take the door apart and try to remove a bunch of those
clips? and run the risk of more water in door?

(No, it's not the biggest problem with the car but it's the one that is
starting to bother me daily)
