Mechanic found exhaust manifold leaking at the gaskets(s);
I had a look at the car sitting there without
the manifold (waiting for parts), and noticed what looked 
like a deep-inside broken-off bolt.
Asked the mechanic about it, expecting the worst: "No, the
bolt was actually missing, the hole is all there..."

While it makes me wonder even more about the PO's mechanic,
it's starting to sound good. 

Tommorow, I'll have the car home, and then replacing the PS
fluid with Pentosin and using the newly found leaktesting
can begin.
Also H1/H4 installation, and other fun stuff. 
I can't wait to hear how it sounds without the exhaust leak;
it already "felt like an Audi", now, without the racket...
