I found one in one of my calipers... forgot to put it back in.

FWIW the pads that went in 35k miles ago have been squealers their whole
life (even with 1/4" of RTV on the back!).  They were filthy too.  They
had a vertical cut in them, to indicate wear limits I think.  I just put
in the pads from my parts car (what were they, Erie Patsellis?), almost
new, no wear "cut".  they are silent (so far...) and look to be leaving
the wheels cleaner.  Heck, my yellow wheels are the only part of the
outside of my car worth cleaning, I care about this now!

I only wish I knew what they are.
