Re: 225/50 tires on 16x7 A4 rims?
I run 225/50-16 on my 97 A4 with no problems. The diameter is the
same as the 205/55-16. The following are allowable rim widths:
Design Recommended
205/55-16 6.5" 6.0" to 7.5"
225/50-16 7.0" 6.5" to 8.0"
The wider tire will protect the wheel better for curb scuff.
Steering effort is also increased due to reduced pneumatic trail
(distance between the tire footprint center and the cg of footprint
pressure distribution). Performance will increase at the expense of
drag (fuel economy). HTH!
