What's all that about, then?

Well, the way that involves the least asking-of-favors would be to
find the GM (or AC Delco, etc.) part number on the actual old part.
I'll try that some time before it's time to fix the A/C on my
'new' '84 5000 come next spring. The PO said he had the belt taken
off the compressor for more power, as he doesn't like A/C - I don't
think it's even worth putting on a belt to check if maybe he
wasn't lying :)

BTW, who knows how much it'll help - I just paid $370
for a new compressor for my '95 Caprice, though it is a somewhat
heftier unit than what's on the 5000. Are R134 A/C parts more
expensive than R12 ones?
Considering engine power etc., it wouldn't surprise me if
the 5000 compressor is the Cavalier part.
