How to Install CD Changer in 98 A6?

Now that there is an aftermarket adaptor available that will let you use a
Panasonic changer, has anyone actually installed one?  How difficult is it
to physically mount the unit?  Do you have to do any drilling or do the
factory mounting holes work?  Does the unit fit in the factory supplied
shelf in the left of the trunk?

Audi wants $75 for a mounting bracket for the factory unit.  Does anyone
know what this does since it appears the car comes equipped with a nice
little shelf with predrilled holes already installed?
