[Fwd: [M] Consumer Reports Raves]

Hi All!

My '88 5KTQ has been resting comfortably in Summer Storage, soon to
emerge to take on the Minnesota Winter, while my Winterphobic Merkurs
start looking for hibernation locations. Just to keep my toes in the
Audi waters, so to speak, I forward a missive that I composed for my
Merkur list.

For AMUSEMENT ONLY. Not intended to start flame wars. (We all know an
'885KTQ is superior to an '88 Scorpio ;-)

Cheers!

Hi All!

Just got my October issue. They praised a German 4-door sedan with a
2.8 V6 that gets 20mpg combined, has a rear seat comfortable enough for
three six-footers, accellerates well but not spectacularly.

It has a large trunk that can swallow 5 pullman cases or a folded
wheelchair! 4 tie-down rings and a cargo net keep packages upright.

The ride is serene. Many adjustments of power seats and steering wheel
can help anyone find a comfortable driving postition. The leather
upholstery is supple and heating elements in the seats are a welcome
touch in cold weather.

Storage includes bins in the console and center arm rest, a large map
pocket on each door and a pouch on each front seatback.

Front and rear each have two map reading lights.

Naturally, there are antilock disk brakes all around.

In a sidebar, CI raved about such thoughtful touches that set this car
apart. For example, opening the door turns on a "puddle light" that
helps you avoid stepping into something messy at night.

Took them 11 years to discover the Scorpio? Nah, just the $43K Audi A6!

Cheers!

If only Ford had sent us the 4wd :-(
