Thank you for all of the comments on what the problem might be concerning
the steering wheel. We have found out though that it is indeed the CV
joints.  We took the car for a little test drive and while making a sharp
turn, heard a loud noise coming from the right side of the car.  We took
it out again a little bit later, just to have the battery die on us, not
even a mile from the house.  Thanks again for all of the answers!!
