details on 4KQ NG/NF upgrade

I'm going with the NF upgrade for the 84 4KQ road-race car. The NF has the
single-piece IM and the injectors in the head as does the stock 4KQ setup.
This _should_ permit use of the existing stock 4KQ CIS and facilitate a
'bolt-in' upgrade. The NG would require all the NG fool system stuff as
well. Both the NG and NF have the 2.3L disp, 10:1 comp, piston squirters
and big-valve (40mm) heads, so the NF is the easy way to go for the same
results.

I purchased a complete and tested running 88 5K NF engine from Harrison at:
800.438.8733 for $350 including shipping - one heack of a good deal. I am
also purchasing a new NF head from Audi via Mark Besso at: 800-378-9106 for
$547.00 - can't beat that!

The current plan is to fully race-prep the new head, IM and EM, full-race
cam, and bolt them onto the used NF lower-end. The used NF head will be
returned to Audi for the core charge. As some time in the future I may
punch-out the NF block to 2.5L and install custom 12:1 lightweight forged
racing pistons. I decided to go with the used lower-end in order to spend
more of the budget on the best possible prep of the top-end and cam, and
upgrade the lower-end in the future. I will be using the stock 4KQ CIS and
ignition and running race fool exclusively - no knocksensing here.

Here are the (excellent) prices quoted for new NF engine HW from Mark:
