that's where we started... then checked wires in doors, then ran juice
to the window... then out came bentley to find out what was in between
all those things.  thermal breaker, which having become too sensitive
explained the symptoms exactly.

BTW, it's also in  a place you don't want to try to get to very often
behind the dashboard.  easiest to replace with two people, one jiggles
the black/yellow wire under the fuse box, the other says "can you see my
fingers yet?".
