Yeah- I used silver solder inside where the switch is "welded" to the
leads for the contacts. I also cleaned the actual "bead-and-leaf"
contact switch, and then smeared some Stabilant-22 on the
surfaces. That was in the spring, no problems since...

Pep boys sells grade-10 metric bolts that worked well for me. I just
kept using the same rusty flange, though...
