Re: Jetta GLX Wheel Bearings/VW does the Dirt
Great to hear of your luck Jason. Not only was the wheel bearing gone, but
the hub had been damaged as well. Interesteingly the buys at Rapid Parts
were the ones who told me the GLX was prone to these failures.
As it happened, referring it to VW was the worst thing that I could have
done because they insisted that I refer it to my local VW dealer. BIG
MISTAKE.
Ultimately VW didn't even refer to the dealer in making their decision to
reject the claim based on age and mileage, but took a week to make the
decision anyway, by which time the dealer had it on the hoist and apart.
It took them 8 days to do the bearing???
I sure miss VW South Africa. What is it with the US VW management and
dealerships? I have had 6 VW and Audis in my time and loved them all, but
this has really tested my loyalty.
