Help! Gas Pedal Stopped Working

Just got home a few minutes ago, but as I was coming up one
of the hills here in Ithaca, my gas pedal went to the floor and
stopped working.  I figured that it was the same problem I had
once in my 84 GTI, the bushing at the end where the cable
connects is old and no good.  I am hoping that all I basically need
to do is get a new bushing (?)  Does anyone have a quick fix I can
to to keep everything together until I get it taken care of next week?
