The stories are true.

Pull harder. That's what I did with mine. There are some metal, diamond
shaped clips that go into metal and they are stiff. It also helps to pull
straight back and slightly up.

As for hard wiring, clip off the the splice terminal they supply on the
positive wire for the hard wire converter. Then, crimp on a flat, spade
type connector. Then just plug the flat connector into an empty fuse slot.
Try around until you find one that is switched with the ignition. The
ground wire can be put under one of the bolts underneath the fuse cover.
With a little creativity, you can make the whole thing barely noticible
even with the fuse cover off.

I ran the phone wire under the A-pillar cover and then tucked it into the
headliner until just after the mirror. To keep it from pulling out too
much, I wrapped electrical tape around the wire to form a ring big enough
so the headliner would catch it and not let go. The V1 sits just below and
to to the right of center of the mirror(reverse for you guys who drive on
the wrong side of the road. Does Valentine make a reverse version for you
guys?).

It's not a good idea to mount the V1 on the dash since neither antenna will
have a clear view.

Good luck and feel free to send me any questions.
