Audi discounted their OEM part prices???

In the new European Car, there is an article on replacing the engine in their
project 4KCSQ. The article doesn't help much, because it just tells how they
took it to a german car mechanic and had them do it. Which helps those of us
who were thinking that you take your car to the cardiologist for an engine
swap.

Anyway, the article said they bought the complete engine brand new from the
dealer. Before I could say "gee, that had to cost a small fortune!", they
mention that Audi has recently reduced the prices on all the parts for older
Audis due to the aftermarket part competition. Is this true? Has anyone
noticed a drop in the dealer prices? Does anyone ever go to the dealer for
parts anyway?

Could it be that Audi has actually discovered the obvious? What next, they
start importing the high performance versions to the US?
