Subject: Audi questions -CQ, headroom and importing from Canada
I am considering a trip to look at a '91 CQ and I have a few questions.
Can a 6'1" person fit into/drive a Coupe okay?
Anyone have experience bringing a car into the country from Canada?
Anyone have luck matching paint on a body panel on a pearl white Audi?
Thanks,

You should have enough headroom. However, that depends on how you get to
6'1": if you're relatively long in the body and short in the legs, then you
may have a problem. If your body/leg ratio is average, then you should be
okay. But that's not the only issue.
If you've got a poofy mop, a la Lyle Lovett or even 50% of his coif, then
you'll likely feel the roof rubbing your locks and it will probably bug you.
I'm 6'4", have an average body/leg ratio and a head with hair, and have
concluded that a unmodified CQ won't fit me, but just barely. If I were 1
inch shorter, I'd fit.
If you don't fit, there may be some mods to the seat bottom that can give
you some extra room. I've read in a posting during the past several that
there are replacement pads for the seat that can be purchased (from Audi I
think) that result in a little gain in vertical room. This requires
reupholstering the seat bottom. However, I've not seen this done nor heard
directly from anyone who did it. So, as of now, this is just hearsay to me.
