RE: Vacuum line - Known suppliers ?

<<Earlier this year, I spent the better part of an hour calling a bunch of
parts shops in the D.C. metro area looking for the cloth braided vacuum
lines. All the "big" parts places said that the lines could only be found
at the dealer. Finally called Olympic Import Parts where I had bought
numerous parts for my VWs in the past. I asked for the lines and the
response was "You mean the German ones? Yeah, we got 'em." They had every
size I needed for my urq. The price depended on the size of the hose and
ranged from around $1/foot to $6/foot. They have a bunch of locations in
the D.C. area. Let me know if you want a number and I'll dig it up.>>

Big vote of confidence for Olympic from me as well. When the idiotic
MD inspector failed my SAAB Sonett's front rotors because they
didn't meet the specs for a SAAB 99 and that's all that was listed
in his book (another story all together...) I couldn't find a new set
_anywhere_. A Sonnet specialty supplier offered me a pair for
$400 (along with a $75 intake manifold gasket). I stopped by
Olympic for the gasket (which they ordered for me) and
asked about the rotors. In stock, $40 each. Also rebuilt my
LUCAS wiper motor (yes, Lucas in a SAAB!) for $90... from
SAAB suppliers $250! They got my business from then on out.
