Head gasket repair; anything else while its in there?

<<Is there anything else that I should consider replacing (no personal cracks,
please) while the engine is open?>>

Seals in the head have already been listed, which is a very good idea. Also
replace all the rubber water hoses you come into contact with, and any that
are easy to get to. On the back of the head is a hose connector that is
bolted to it (single 10mm bolt), there's a rubber seal between it and the head
-- replace it as well.
Assuming the car is a turbo, check the oil lines to it and see if any sludge
has collected -- this is a lot easier to do with the manifolds out of the way.
Consider replacing the inserts for the injectors, especially if the head has
old-style (non shrouded) injectors.
Thoroughly clean EVERYTHING you can reasonably reach. Getting all the crap
off the engine helps it run cooler (yeah, I know it's a small value.)
Have new studs/washers/nuts ready for the exhaust manifold. New bolts for
the intake manifold.

	Later.
