Re: IR filters
I have a couple PIAA 959s in my garage, they seem ideal candidates for
this modification. All metal, they should take the heat of a big bulb.
Small, so smaller IR filter needed, and tidy. How big a bulb?
IR questions: Aren't plastics notoriously bad at passing a wide
spectrum of light (optical band-pass filters)? Would plastic engineered
to pass visible tend to absorb IR? Might some clear plastic be
available that absorbs a lot of IR? Headlights and front licence plates
seem to be the main targets of laser, could they be covered with such a
material? I know I can get spectrum absorbance curves, what's the
frequency/wavelength I should be looking for? 904 nanometers?
