spark plugs - 84 5kS
I got (surprisingly inexpensive) Bosch platinum
plugs, gap pre-set to .032". My owner's
manual says .028" + 0.004". I assume they mean +/-?
Would I still be OK with leaving them at .032"?
Or in other words, is it more likely that the engine's
heavy vibration/shaking/noise (all in RPM-rhythm)
which it didn't have before come from the slightly larger
gap or from the fact that there is now a crack in the #1
plugwire-plug insulation plastic as I thougt that the
sparkplug tip must have come off when I saw the thin
contact screw on the old plugs...
(when I pull it off, there is a spark going through that
crack to the heat shield - I guess I can check whether
taht spark also occurs when plugged in by removing
the heatshield..?)
I was just saying yesterday how nicely the engine runs,
after having revved it past 3.5k RPM for the first time
(previously scared, the loud exhaust makes you fear it's
going to burst), and actually hearing the engine sound
louder than the exhaust racket...I guess I spoke too
hastily.
TIA.
