Been told by an Audi tech that the right front tire tends to wear more quickly
on Quattros. Didn't get the reason why, but I did test the tread depth of the
SP 8000Es on my A4 1.8T and found that the RF tire measured about 1/32 less at
10K miles.

Torsen is supposed to apportion the torque equally to front and rear under
non-slip conditions, same with the front and rear diffs. EDL kicks in to brake
the slipping wheel, allowing the opposite wheel with better traction to do its
job.

Don't know how it would affect your handling or if the same tire wear pattern
occurs in your A6, but I'd give it a try and put the new tire on the RF. If it
feels too squirrelly, switch it to the rear.

BTW, which tires are you using?
