Steering Whine?
Howdy Listigators... I've just gotten my car back from the shop, having had
a new steering rack put in. The new rack works fine, but makes a
whining/vibration consistant with the engine speed when the steering wheel
is not centered. It cannot really be heard under the hood, but in the
drivers seat, I can hear it, as well as feel it in the floor, pedals, and
steering wheel.
While the old rack was still in (and leaking), I was putting generic
steering fluid in it so I wouldn't have to pay $10+ per liter for it to
drain onto the road. Might this fluid have done some damage to the pump?
There is pentosin in the sytem now. Does anyone have experience with this
type of problem? Thanks!
