Still a bit tall comparitively (3000 RPM in 6th gear on the 6 speed box for
the LT1s is probably in excess of 100 m/h; I'd have to try it to be sure,
but 80 m/h in 6th is about 1900 RPM). The ability to get even moderately
reasonable gas mileage on the highway comes from the double overdrive
transmission.
