Glow plug lite/cold start

Huw, etr al., the cold start valve, as wired by VAG, and anyone else
using this FI system, or several others, only operates while cranking,
and only for a time determined by the temperature of the thermotime
switch. Above a predetermined ambient temp, it doesn't operate at all.
The colder it is, the longer it's open, until the electrically heated
thermotime switch removes the ground to the circuit. Waiting for it to
work without cranking could prove a long and boring adventure, better
bring a Stephen King novel. And lunch.
