Uprating bulbs in 1994 S4

Does anyone know anything about putting uprated bulbs in the
headlights of a 1994 S4?

One Audi dealer told me they could cope with 100w bulbs unchanged but
for 130w extra relays were needed.  Another told me that relays were
needed even for 100w.  Does anyone know which is correct?

If extra relays are needed how should it be done.  The last I time I
got extra relays put in a car to cope with a total of about 600w of
bulbs my switch still melted.
