I just used the 3-step process on my trunk lid.
Results are nothing short of spectacular; the glaze/sealer did a great job
of hiding/filling all the swirl marks that were visible at low angles from
washes and waxes(our Volvo has this really bad, so the glaze will work
wonders when I do it next weekend.) The pre-wax(step 1) clearcoat polish
needed 2 applications to get everything off, since I wasn't pressing very
hard.
However, I discovered with all this close examination and a really clean
surface, that my clearcoat is fairly pitted, which is really dissapointing.
The pitted clearcoat tends to really hide the very subtle nature of the
metallic black, to the point where the black just almost "dirty" and not
"metallic." It's not very deep, so I guess a good body shop can get it
out. I'll probably do that in the spring.
The only disadvantage to Mother's is that it takes a LONG time to do, and
you need to have lots of cloths available. I'm doing the process one panel
at a time, since I don't think I'll be able to finish up the entire car
this weekend.
Good things take time!
