Re: buying a 4kq
john-
The headwork I did was partly because I thought the vacuum pump plunger was
something internal. Although the headwork was overdue, and produced a
positive outcome, the pump rod was still there. Intermittantly. Took me
about 15 minutes to pull it off the head, drop the plunger into my hand, and
reconnect (I don't recall if or how I resealed it, if at all). I believe the
rod's there to provide braking assisstance if the brakes are actuated for a
long time or repeatedly. I've done both, under conditions of, shall we say,
duress, and I haven't noticed a bit of difference. I should point out that I
have Dot5 fluid (castrol LMA or something), semi-metallic pads, and SS lines
at the calipers.
But if it's got something to do with emmissions test passing, then it did have
an effect, because it required a little tinkering w/ the c/o and timing to get
it to pass. No sweat really, tho.
Anyway, HTH, and have fun...
