RE: Clutch vibration, and ramble

-----Original Message-----
Osman, and the list, the release bearing in my 80 4K, after breaking a
couple of cables because I was too lazy to do the clutch, went THROUGH
the pressure plate, losing the adjustment big time. Had to do a clutch
then. At least it didn't happen somewhere out near Dog's Breath, Montana
or some other far distant location, but on my way to the shop one
morning. Might as well do it now, it might end up being a lot cheaper.

Yes, I have decided that the 200q will not be driven until the clutch issue
is addressed. Luckily, I have a back-up car. I plan on making some phone
calls tomorrow to get estimates from my mechanics ( 3 shops I trust now in
the region).. This is the second note I've gotten about possible secondary
damage from driving on a bad throw-out bearing.

It's time to do the whole clutch job....

On a side note (and for those seeking 89 200q's), depending on cost I may be
selling my beloved 200q. Even though I have invested about $3K in the past
two years, I don't think I can keep up with the cost of ownership while I'm
in grad school.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but if it does look forward to my notes on
the dangers of fixing almost everything then running out of money. ;)

This comes at a poor time considering the upcoming Adirondack Run, Kanc II,
and Bear Mountain Fall Foliage Tours.

For those that are interested my 200q has recently had:
1. Rebuilt Rack
2. New Bomb
3. Rebuilt P/S Pump
4. New Boge Turbos in front, oem in back
5. Eurolights (harness in works)
6. Tap Chip
7. In Dash Kenwood CD
8. Fuel Lines
9. Oil Lines
10. Used wheels from CA
11. Set of Hakka 1's with about 2K miles on them, mounted on Steel wheels.
12. Rebuilt Starter
13. Rebuilt Alternator
14. Sampco upper IC hose
15. Clutch MC
16. Clutch SC
17. Clutch PEDAL.....and on and on.....(don't forget the set of Bentley's)

Sheesh writing all that makes me think that I should just store the beast
for a couple of years.
But if someone is interested in a (early) 89 200q, drop me a note. I will
know by weeks end for sure whether it will be sold. ...

High mileage 5000/200q people, I could really use some feedback on ownership
cost after 175K.
I know a couple of you have crossed the 200K great divide and then some.....
Gotta get some sleep (another day of fun business school ahead of me! )
