WOT = Wide Open Throttle. This switch is mounted on the throttle body ... I
can't remember if it is the Idle Switch or the WOT switch that is the one
that is mounted UNDER the throttle body and is therefore a total PITA to
access. You can tell which is the WOT switch by pulling the throttle cable
under the hood and watching which switch gets activated as the throttle body
goes to full throttle. The reason this can cause sluggishness is that the
computer doesn't go into WOT mode until it sees the WOT switch being
activated. Another problem that might cause this to occur is if you have
the throttle cable improperly adjusted ... or those stupid foam rubber
dampers (2) where the cable connects to the accelerator have become soggy
and are about to go.
The vacuum advance mechanism on the distributor is that silvery metal vacuum
device mounted to the base of the distributor. It has a vacuum line
attached ... mine has a little vacuum switch in line. This can cause
sluggishness because it is supposed to adjust the ignition timing when you
are in a WOT situation ...
