Re: Bilsteins on a 4kq
I'm putting HD's on mine. The Sports are really designed for lowered cars
(the "sweet spot" is different, and I believe the shaft is shorter). I had
the Sports on a lowered Scirocco - the thing was like a slot car. I lived
in VA then, so it wasn't a problem, but I wouldn't want that car up here in
NH. I believe you'll find the same thing in OR.
The Bilsteins might raise your car up a bit (just a little though) which is
another reason I am putting them in. I am using the car primarily as a
winter beater and a TSD rally car, so clearance is an issue (skid plate in
the plan too).
I don't know if replacing the springs will be necessary, but do all of the
bushings (if they need it) and the other usual suspension bits that die.
I like Bilsteins - I've had good luck with the product, and I think the
company is a good one.
They support racing and take care of their customers (IME).
