Transmission stuph & dealer doublespeak
Here's the latest on the 100 cs transmission thing:
You may recall that mine "barked" between 2nd and 3rd. They replaced the
fluid & radiator.
Now, the dealer that I bought the car from owns . . . oldsmobile,
cadillac, buick, VW, porsche, audi, dodge, chrysler, plymouth, etc,
dealerships throughout my town.
THEIR Audi mechanic says . . . the transmission needs to be replaced.
The Cadillac dealer's (I bought the car from this subcompoent of the
dealership) service supervisor says . . . this is stupid, it doesn't
need to be replaced . .. just rebuilt. We can take it over to
"Certified Transmissions" a national shop and they will warrant the thing
for longer that we can.
Now remember, I'm not being charged for any of this . . . it's included
in my 30 day, 100% warranty.
Now I know that the dealership doesn't want to buy a new tranny for this
car. Hell, I only paid 13,400 for the thing (with 38K miles) two months
ago. However, I'm a little more than concerned that the Audi mechanic
says "new tranny" (even though he never opened the thing up) and and the
Cadillac service guy wants to take it to a non-dealer transmission shop
to "rebuild it."
I'm thinking . . . they should probably be encouraged to buy the car
back, fix it with whatever they want, & sell it to someone else. (By
the way, "encouraged" can sometimes be read . . . threatened.)
