quattro diff whining!!:(

Well,

It's my differential... :(
Anyone know of a source for a good used diff/tranny combo for 
an '86 4kq? preferably cheep.
I think I am going to cry. 
I noticed it after driving in heavy rains last evening with the diffs
locked. The car did awesome! just didn't like it I guess.
The owners manual says it is ok to drive with the diffs locked
did I do the damage this way?
Anyone ever had a 4kq diff/trans start whining?
