5k odo fixes....

I've tried twice to fix my Audreys odometer, and have had no luck. First
time used "crazy glue" (cyano-acrylate), lasted about 80 miles, second time
tried to rig up a physical barrier to stop the gear from sliding off the
shaft using wire tires, lasted 117 miles. Someone somewhere posted
something about removing the shaft and knurling it....I think. (Visions of
little gears, cams, and sprockets going sproing! all over creation)
Can anyone shed some light?
