That would have been me. I have had good luck (all of my Audis have
lost count at some point...) with abrading the shaft a little where the
gear goes on it, and then using a tiny amount of anerobic structural
adhesive (crazy glue to you, but I use the same stuff I use for speaker
magnets). It is vital to clean those surfaces prior to gluing, say
acetone first then alcohol, then a primer for the glue. Don't get the
solvents on anything else!
So anyway, my "new" '85, whcih will be roadworthy one ball joint and one
downpipe/cat joint from now, has a defunct odometer - of course. (the
upshit indicator, *both* power windows, and the cruise work though!) So
soon enough, I will be doing this again. This time I will make lots o'
pikchers and stuff them on my web site. Sometime in the next few
weeks...
bye for now.
PS I think the license plate will be MENSCH (to go with HUMAN),
suggested by... a fellow lister whose name slips my feeble mind at this
point.
