RE: 4kcsq strut bearings?

Data point, My '87 4kq came from the factory with the blue strut bearings in
the rear while the fronts were the cheaper black units. I replaced all 4
with the same part number (blue bearings).

>From a post a long time ago....
857 412 323B	Blue	urq	Dealer List Price $111.00 each
8A0 412 323D	Black	4kq	Dealer List Price $ 19.40 each

I purchased my blue bearings from Linda for around $85

Whether there is any real difference other than the blue paint and price, I
have no idea.

Subject: 4kcsq strut bearings?

Talked to a gentleman at IPC about rear strut bearings for '86 Audi 4000cs
quattro. He said he has heard of people using the front strut bearings for
the rear, is this correct? The bearings look like the same part. I can't
find a listing for rear strut bearings in any of my parts books or any local
parts dealers. Rick Hill Audi Porsche BMW Mercedes is asking $98.46 for the
rear strut bearings and IPC wants $11.00 for the front strut bearings that
just might work in the rear. If anyone has used the front bearings in the
rear I would really like to hear from you. Thank you!
