But is some kind of air blowing out? Cool?

I've learned that a properly functioning climate control (of that vintage,
at least), will _not_ blow what is regarded as "hot air"--not even very
warm--from the center vents. It's just not designed to be as we would
expect. It's a teuton thing: _real_ men (German ones) want only cool air
in the face.

At least that's the opinion of the Qlist and agrees with the "auto" and
"bi-level" behavior of all three Audis I've owned--whose CC functioned OK
in all other regards.

This could be true, but I'd go slowly on letting any "repairs" be done.
