V8 alternator connections - what goes where?

Hi folks,

Dad has just replaced the timing belt on his car and went to hook up the
alternator (the last thing needed before starting the car) and found the
labels he'd put on the wires had been washed off, or the ink had washed
off.  

Anyone know which wire goes where.  He sys there are 4 wires: 2 fairly
thick ones (0 gauge?), a normal one (12 gauge?) and a thin one (20
gauge?).

Any help would be appreciated as he really doesn't want to fry anything
electronic by wiring it up wrong.
