Re: Intermittent Stalling
Firstly, let me apologize for this post. I tried to post it Saturday but it didn't work and now it's been posted, four days after I got home, so sorry for the wasted BW. I think my stalling problems were caused by the "old volcano sydrome", and yes, I know what that means - $$$. I don't know what the fluid from the resevoir hit, but it was obviously something important. After the volcano became dormant however, I was able to drive the 300+ km home without a problem, a good thing, because I wasn't anywhere near anyone familiar with Audis.
"Could be alot of things, but you should check
the exhaust first, sounds like your cat converter
has self-destructed and is intermittently blocking
the flow. IF you really get stuck, and this is
the problem, a McGiver method to get home is
to remove the oxy sensor (easy on the 5KS), this
will let the engine breath enough to get you home.
BTDT."
My car doesn't have a cat converter. Just went out to the car to double check and here's what the sticker on the driver's door jamb says:
Vehicle Emission Control Information
This Vehicle Conforms To USEPA Regulations
Applicable To 1984 Model Year New Motor Vehicles
NON - CATALYST
Oh, it even has what I'm assuming is a part no. 171000359AF.
And on another topic, "Just a note for other young QListers out there(active or lurking), please learn from_____________experience and don't repeat his mistakes, I will thank you and so will all other QListers."
How about making this note applicable to ALL Q listers. The younger listers don't have a monopoly on mistakes.
