David Adams is in an even more extreme position. His car stopped three
weeks ago, spent a week at the dealer's and two weeks at an electrical
specialist. I know from talking to the specialist that he's put in
massive hours - he claims 50 and that doesn't seem over the top.
I found the problem (with David watching) ten seconds after finding the
car. The 'specialist' insisted on giving me GBP30 'for my trouble'
right in front of David, who will of course have it added to his bill.
When I tried to give David the money back later, saying it would come
through on his bill in any case, he refused. Then he bought me a beer
and a steak.
