Re: Parts interchange? CV Joints
Well...based on Chris' reply, it appears there is a good possibility the
ABS compatible CV joint can be used in cars without ABS.
One reason I was wondering is that The Parts Connection is offering a
closeout sale price of $99.95 on a rear driveshaft axle assembly
for an Audi 5ktq, 1986-88 (pn 443 501 201).
http://www.thepartsconnection.com/specials.htm
While a person may not have this car or need that particular axle...the CV
joints on this axle are used on many other models.
The inner joint is pn 431 498 103C and is the same one used on the inner
front of virtually all 5k's, 100, 200's, S4/S6, etc.
It's also use for inner rear on 89-94 100q, 89-91 200q, S4/S6
TPC's price for this part alone is $89.
The outer joint on this axle is pn 431 498 099D and it is used on many
other models, some on front outer, others on rear outer, many of the 5K's
use it both front and rear.
The outer joint usually costs a lot more than the inner joint. So if a
person had a use for both of these joints, they could be getting a bargain
in buying this axle.
TPC's on-line parts catalog will tell you which part works on which cars.
Hope this helps someone,
