I tried some generic Black Magic stuff on mine ('87 4kcsq) without too high
expectations but it seems to work fine for now (had it there in rain and
shine for about 1 1/2 mos).   I won't be surprised if it looses strength as
time passes but I don't think it will harm to try.

Of course "deep black" is an issue only you can judge upon.
