'97 A4 Quattro 2.8L ( CD Changer)

My wife bought her Audi minus the factory CD changer (she loves this car like
no other she's ever seen!) We'd like to install a trunk mounted CD changer
now (one that is operated through the factory installed stereo head-unit... no
aftermarket RF changer!) I believe that the head-unit is an ALPINE OEM
component. I've been beating up this problem for months... the dealer wants
outrageous money to sell me the factory CD changer kit. Can I buy one used or
aftermarket? I can't install a typical aftermarket Alpine CD changer... it
won't interface with the stereo and nobody has made a "knockoff" adapter that
I can find. Please help!

The CD changer for the Alpine unit is quite expensive, but, call Clair Parts
Express at 800-354-5100 and ask for Mark Burns, he will give you a good
discount over what the dealer wants for that changer. Or, you could always
get a CD changer that works through the FM band.
