True enough. My wife is a Russian, but still happily driver her Benz and my
Audi, and refers to the Merc as her "Small German Tank". Given that (from
all causes, including self-inflicted) the Russians lost somewhere in the
region of 20 million during WWII, I'm glad that she takes such a practical
view of the matter (the phrase "have you ever driven a Lada? came up in the
discussion [yes, I had]).

As for the license plates, I currently have a standard one, and if I was to
get a vanity plate, I'd want one which was still fairly discrete.

Appropriate, and not immediately readable:
PZKPFW V (PzKpfw V) (PanzerKamfwagen V "Panther")

or if the Warsaw Pact objects, while maintaining the "four-ish-ness" of
Quattro:
ZSU 234 (let's see who's read their "Jane's Book of Death and Destruction")
