Driving Impression 98 Passat V6 Tip.

Dealership gave me a loaner while they trace all my various A4t problems
for the once and final time I hope-- 1998 Passat 2.8 Tiptronic. All I
can say is "WOW!" The 30v engine is much more torquey than previous 12v
2.8's I've driven. This car has an incredible amount of power, and the
control I have compliments of the 5 speed tiptronic shifter is
incredible. The stock tires on this Passat, however, are somewhat
lacking. I wish I could have my wheel/tire/spring setup on this car
(235 45 17 tires, Eibach springs). The whole suspension setup is very
soft, and there is a fair amount of roll when I take the long, sweeping
curves leading up to my neighborhood at around 70MPH. Also, there is a
little more fore and aft motion under braking and acceleration than I
care to have. I suppose my A4 was the same before the upgrades.

My mission is, now, to figure out how to add Tiptronic to my A4. I hate
to search A4.org because of the S/N ratio there, so I wanted to check
with the A4 owners here and see if anyone with a pre-tiptronic A4 knows
what is involved in adding it to my car. I.e., are the electronics the
same, but the shifter itself different, or am I looking at changing out
both my tranny computer and my shifter (in which case I would just be
better off probably selling my A4 and buying a newer one.)

Or, is there a kit available for cars like mine from TAP or someone to
make it a tiptronic?

Any advice is appreciated!!!
